ArigatoAI is an AI tool designed for self-reflection, cognitive defusion, and perspective restructuring inspired by Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). It is NOT medical care, clinical diagnosis, psychotherapy, professional counseling, or emergency crisis intervention.
If you are in immediate danger, contact emergency services where you are. For crisis support, use an official service for your country or region. In the United States, you can call or text 988. In England, NHS 111 can direct you to urgent mental health support; call 999 for a life-threatening emergency. In other locations, contact your local emergency number or official crisis service. Numbers and availability vary by location.
1. Scope and Agreement
These Terms set out the conditions for use of the Service and the rights and obligations of users and the operator, to the extent the Terms are validly agreed to. Please review them before you begin using the Service. The method and timing of agreement depend on how the Terms are presented and on applicable law.
If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service. Merely viewing this page does not provide any separate consent required for voice processing or other purposes.
2. Nature of the Service
ArigatoAI is an interactive AI mental coaching platform designed to assist users in structuring thoughts, separating objective situations from automatic emotions, and cultivating helpful perspectives.
- AI-Assisted Dialogue: Depending on the operating configuration, dialogue and suggestions are generated using the Gemini API or Vertex AI. During an outage or similar event, the Service may show a fixed message that was not generated by AI. AI output may be inaccurate or incomplete.
- No Professional or Medical Services: The Service does not provide medical diagnoses, clinical treatment, psychological therapy, legal advice, or regulated professional services.
- Usage and History: You may use the Service as a guest without signing in with Google, or sign in with Google. Guest conversations do not appear in My Page saved history, but session data may be stored as needed to process the conversation. For signed-in users, a conversation is added to saved history only after the user selects the save action. See our Privacy Policy for retention and deletion details.
3. User Environment and Account Management
You are responsible for obtaining and maintaining all devices, software, and internet connections required to access the Service at your own expense.
If you use Google Sign-In, please keep your account credentials secure. This section does not exclude rights or operator liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law; the existence and scope of liability are governed by Section 8.
4. Text and Voice Input Data
Text input is sent to Gemini API or Vertex AI, depending on the operating configuration, for dialogue processing. Microphone audio is processed for transcription; only text that the user reviews, edits, and manually sends is submitted to the coaching conversation.
- Voice Consent: Before recording, the Service explains the voice processing and requires browser microphone permission. Recording does not start without the required confirmation and permission.
- Transcription and Destination: Recorded audio is sent to the Gemini Developer API for transcription. See the Privacy Policy for audio-file deletion and retention details. You can review and edit the transcript; it is sent to the coaching conversation only when you manually submit it.
- Storage and Retention: Session data, saved conversation history, and data held by external APIs have different retention and deletion conditions, including for guest sessions. See the Privacy Policy for details.
- Confidential Credentials: Please do not submit highly sensitive credentials, such as credit card numbers, national identification numbers, or bank passwords.
5. Prohibited Conduct
When using the Service, you agree not to engage in any of the following activities:
- Violating applicable local, national, or international laws and regulations.
- Infringing on intellectual property rights, privacy rights, publicity rights, or other proprietary rights of others.
- Using the Service with the purpose of encouraging or facilitating another person's suicide, self-harm, drug misuse, or violence.
- Using prompt injection or similar means to bypass safeguards, obtain non-public information, or gain unauthorized access.
- Conducting vulnerability scans, penetration tests, or other tests that may affect Service security or operations without the operator's authorization. This does not categorically prohibit conduct allowed by applicable law or an open-source license, legitimate inquiries, or good-faith vulnerability reports.
- Sending excessive automated queries, scraping, or causing undue operational load (DoS) on backend servers or APIs.
- Illegitimately bypassing, disabling, or tampering with Service security measures or safety features.
- Impersonating another person, organization, or identity.
- Materially disrupting normal Service operations or violating these Terms.
6. Suspension, Modification, and Termination of Service
The operator may suspend or interrupt all or part of the Service for maintenance, force majeure, upstream service outages or changes, or other operational or technical needs. Where advance notice is reasonably possible, we will provide it on this page or through another appropriate channel within the Service. In an emergency or where advance notice is impracticable, notice may follow the suspension.
- Routine or emergency maintenance, inspection, or system updates.
- Force majeure events, including natural disasters, fires, power failures, or communications breakdown.
- Service disruptions, outages, or API changes from upstream cloud providers (Google Cloud, Firebase, Gemini API).
- Operational or technical requirements that necessitate temporary suspension.
The operator may change or discontinue the Service. Where advance notice is reasonably possible, we will announce the expected timing and user impact through the Service. Any operator liability in these circumstances is governed by these Terms and applicable law.
7. Intellectual Property and Content Rights
Rights in the Service brand, design, text, images, characters, and other materials belong to the operator or their respective rights holders. Third-party materials remain subject to their rights holders' terms. Publicly released source code is governed by the LICENSE; that license does not automatically cover non-code materials.
Rights in content submitted by a user remain with that user or the relevant rights holder. The user permits the operator to process submitted content as necessary to provide, maintain, and secure the Service. Retention and deletion are described in the Privacy Policy.
The operator does not guarantee that a user has exclusive rights in AI output or that it is protected by copyright. The same or similar output may be provided to other users. These Terms do not impose a blanket prohibition on commercial use. You are responsible for checking third-party rights, applicable law, and the terms of the external AI service before using output, including for commercial purposes.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties and Limitation of Liability
The Service and AI suggestions or outputs are not guaranteed to be complete, accurate, reliable, useful, fit for a particular purpose, safe, or free from errors. AI output may be inaccurate or incomplete, and fixed operational messages may be shown during an outage. Do not rely on an output alone for important decisions; seek qualified advice where appropriate.
You are responsible for reviewing and deciding how to use information and AI output from the Service. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the operator is not liable for damage arising from use of, or inability to use, the Service or its output. Where applicable law does not allow the operator to exclude liability, any compensation is limited, to the extent permitted by law, to direct and ordinary damages actually incurred by the user.
The limitations in this Section do not apply to damage caused by the operator's intentional misconduct or gross negligence, or to any liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
9. Privacy and Personal Data Handling
Personal data and input data are handled as described in our Privacy Policy. Any consent required for voice input is requested separately before recording; agreement to these Terms does not replace that separate consent.
10. Changes to Terms
The operator may revise these Terms where reasonably necessary, including because of legal or Service changes, and in accordance with applicable law. When making a revision, we will post the changes and effective date on this page and, where possible, give notice through the Service before that date.
A revision applies from its posted effective date. If applicable law requires the user's consent to a change, that change applies after the required consent is obtained. Continued use alone does not constitute agreement to every change.
11. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Japan.
Any dispute related to these Terms or the Service will be handled by a court with jurisdiction under applicable law. This Section does not restrict any forum available to a user under non-waivable applicable law.
